Csak egy alma
áldozatai vagyunk,
tudni akartuk,
mi van a folyó
túlsó partján,
a napba pislogó
messzi sziklán
és tovább, tovább –
körbejártuk magunk,
mint farkába
harapó kígyó
és a táj
bár meghallgatott,
sohasem válaszolt.

After paradise (English)
We are victims
of just an apple,
we wanted to know
what lay
across the river,
on that far cliff
blinking into the sun
and further and beyond -
we went around ourselves
like the snake
biting its tail
and the landscape,
though it listened to us,
never answered.
(it may have changed perhaps
