Blake, William: Én kedves rózsafám (My Pretty Rose Tree in Hungarian)

Portre of Blake, William
Portre of Gergely Ágnes

Back to the translator

My Pretty Rose Tree (English)

A flower was offered to me,

Such a flower as May never bore;

But I said "I've a pretty rose tree,"

And I passed the sweet flower o'er.

Then I went to my pretty rose tree,

To tend her by day and by night;

But my rose turned away with jealousy,

And her thorns were my only delight.

Én kedves rózsafám (Hungarian)

Virág, felém ágaskodóban,

Május-szépe kínálta magát:

"Van egy kedves rózsafám", szóltam

S nem kellett a drága virág.

Akkor kedves Fácskámhoz mentem:

Őrzöm napon, éjjelen is:

De a féltékeny elfordult menten,

S gyönyörűm ma csupán a tövis.
