szelíd fohász az én fohászom
félig könyörgés félig hála
hogy nem juttattál s ezután se
juttass engemet szégyenfára

de eljut-e az én fohászom
eljuthat-e vajon tehozzád
útjaidat úton útfélen
szertartások barikádozzák

nem marad-e sziklára hullt
magokként vajon terméketlen
mit egy hosszú életen át
a jövendőnek elvetettem

tudom sokat eltékozoltam
abból mit rám bíztál sokat
de azért ne tagadd meg tőlem
holtomban se áldásodat

a gentle prayer is my prayer
half begging half praise
for you didn’t and i hope
will never make me shame

but will this prayer of mine
can it reach you ever
on your roads all along
the rituals are barriers

will not the seeds fallen
on rocks remain fruitless
which during my long life
for the future i’ve spread

i know i’ve wasted much
of what you trusted me
still don’t deny me even
when i die your mercy
